Controller

Description:

Woodbury, NY. Reid CPAs, LLP, is an independent, full-service certified public accounting firm specializing in accounting and consulting services for businesses and individuals. We currently have offices in Long Island, NYC, and Boca Raton, FL. Join a rapidly growing organization with a strategic vision and dynamic plan. We currently seek an innovative Controller with in-depth knowledge of GAAP who can lead and oversee all financial procedures as well as manage the accounting department, accounting transactions and review quarterly/annual budgets. This is the perfect job for a team leader who likes autonomy and can manage people and a business.

Key Objectives:

• Oversee entire Firm billing/accounting department (currently 3 team members) in connection with work-in-process, collection of receivables and the timeliness of financial reporting
• Manage accounts payable, purchase orders and accounts receivable processes and reporting
• Improve, monitor, and update internal accounting policies
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial budgets/forecasts, as well as the comparison reports to actual results
• Manage and report on cash flow
• Present monthly financial reports to management, as well as ad hoc reports as needed
• Participate in strategic planning including implementation, monitoring/reporting results on short-term and long-term business objectives including results related to the Firm’s growth model
• Work with operations to plan meetings with partners discussing time, billing, collection, projections, and analyze client realization

Requirements:

• Experience in a professional services firm (accounting, legal, consulting, or similar)
• Understanding of hourly billing and realization
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, business or accounting
• NYS CPA
• Minimum 7 years’ experience in accounting (at least 3 as a Controller or similar role)
• Solid management/supervisory experience
• Knowledge of GAAP
• Experience with cash management and risk assessment
• Experience with QuickBooks
• Hands-on experience with general ledger, accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
• Detail-oriented and organized
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment
